Tile Club needed an advanced shipping system to handle their diverse products and provide shipping rates based on factors like product type, quantity, order value, and shipping address.
Their previous Shopify Script-based solution was outdated and error-prone, leading to a poor customer experience.
Tile Club sought a more dynamic, user-friendly, and scalable solution to meet their eCommerce demands.
Strategy and Approach
The team analyzed Tile Club's shipping requirements, focusing on product categories, destinations, and quantity-based rates.
Using Shopify Functions, a custom system was built that allowed dynamic rule management through a user-friendly UI.
This ensured accurate shipping rates without needing developer intervention. without relying on developers or outside support.
The solution was built using advanced JavaScript and layered shipping rules to ensure that only relevant and cost-appropriate rates were presented at checkout.
Challenges
The primary challenge was handling all the possible cart combinations while satisfying Shopify Functions’ memory limitations. During development, we reached the 11 million instruction limit, but Shopify’s Function Runner helped us identify and resolve the problem before launch.
Results and Outcome
The shipping solution launched smoothly, with a success rate above 99%.
Tile Club praised the team for their problem-solving skills and the efficient app management system, which lets them update shipping rules without technical assistance.
