Challenge

The creators of the Miku Smart Baby Monitor had a theme that was out-of-date and riddled with unnecessary code and unused app scripts. Slow website UX can quickly deteriorate usability and first-time shopper trust, and lead to a drop off in conversions.

Approach

• Elimination of render blocking (JavaScript was loading before styling).
• Removal of unused JavaScript and CSS.
• Defer off-screen images.
• Shift styling from the footer to header.
• Remove or defer loading of product page sections with a heavy load.
• Remove unnecessary apps and uninstall app remnants where applicable.

Learnings

Most sites we work with frequently have old and unused app scripts and/or code that weighs down the site speed. It takes a trained eye to remove these without impacting site functionality and Prismfly's team is seasoned when it comes to this type of project.
